Semgrep provides dental coverage through Guardian with two plan options — a Base PPO and a Buy-Up PPO. Both plans let you visit any dentist, but you pay less out-of-pocket when you choose a dentist in the DentalGuard Preferred network. There is no waiting period and coverage is contributory, meaning dependents can be added.
Choosing the right plan
- The Base PPO covers preventive care at 100%, basic care at 90%, and major care at 60%, with a $1,500 annual maximum. Semgrep covers the full premium — there is no cost to you for employee-only coverage.
- The Buy-Up PPO adds orthodontia coverage at 50% with a $2,500 lifetime maximum, and raises the annual maximum to $2,500. A small employee contribution applies.
What’s covered
- Preventive care — 100% (exams, cleanings, x-rays, sealants) — deductible waived
- Basic care — 90% (fillings, extractions, scaling & root planing) — $50 deductible applies
- Major care — 60% (crowns, dentures) — $50 deductible applies
- Orthodontia — 50% (Buy-Up plan only, $2,500 lifetime max)
The $50 annual deductible is waived for preventive services. Once three family members meet their individual deductible, no further deductibles apply for the rest of the family for that year.
California vs. Texas networks
Semgrep employees are covered under state-specific Guardian networks:
- California employees — DentalGuard Preferred Northern California
- Texas employees — DentalGuard Preferred NAP Texas
Coverage percentages and maximums are the same across both networks.
Monthly premiums
Semgrep pays 100% of the Base PPO premium for all coverage tiers. The Buy-Up plan requires a small monthly employee contribution.
